Gyr Falcon!!!

Bild von Zen Me
Such an interesting story here. About 1 1/2 months ago these bird hunters were trying 2 spot a bird that they said was the GEAR falcon. After googling it after work i found out that it was spelt GYR falcon. they said that they received an email on their bird watching site about a Gyr falcon that was flying near the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette Michigan! These bird watchers i talked to were from Indiana!! They drove 12 hours just to spot a fricken bird! Hey when you love something you love something right!?
so anyway, after doing some fun research on this Falcon, i find out many very interesting qualities!! let me name a few:
- the gyr falcon is the largest falcon in the world
-in the middle ages, only a king could hunt w/ the gyr falcon.
- Length: 20 inches Wingspan: 48 inches!
-Breeds on tundra in northern alaska and Canada
-Spends winters in breeding range and regularly (but rarely) south to the northern tier of states, especially along coasts. Found in boreal forests, cliffs, and coastal areas.
Here is his range of habitat! www.peregrinefund.org/explore_raptors/falcons/media/gyrfm…
I might never see another one of these bad boys again! So i am glad i can share my personal experience w/ yall!
The world is a mysterious place. But funny enough, i watched the Celestine prophecy movie not too long ago, and they were really big about opening yourself up to people and their energy. i could have just gone to work, but i really felt the compassion to know what these bird hunters were up to. Just by knowing, and opening myself up to someone elses feelings about something, led me to this wonderful shot of the extremely rare Gyr Falcon.
‘everything happens for a reason!’ sorry this description was so long.
